100 years ago in 1914 28 June, Franz Ferdinand from Austria was assassinated. The shot echoed around the world.

In August the 4th a world war began, lots of countries  began to team up to start the war.

Many flags today will flown at half mast, so when we look at the flag it will make us remember what happened 100 years ago.

The New Zealand and Australian troops were called the anzacs that is why we wear the poppy.
